If there was a doujin game of Seirei Gakuen?

I was thinking about how visual novels work, and when it comes to doujin games, they're fan-made right? If anyone of us were to make one, what kind of a story would you prefer or want? Would you want it to be interactive? Voiced? Linear or non-linear? Lots of choices? No choices? Should it involves all the bachelors? Or certain bachelors? Yaoi? Girl after boy? Visual novel? Or dating simulation? Or stats-based?

'm having a little bit of trouble of what people really want when it comes to them, because I'm making my own little visual novel (not a Kiss x Kiss one, but I'll get on that after I finish a few visual novels first). I would like to hear everyone's input on it.

In my opinion I prefer dating simulation with one or two interactive components involved, as a girl x boy game. Yaoi is OK, but I find that it is usually 18 and over age thing going on, and it's kind of embarrassing to play when my parents are around. Voiced is actually kind of refreshing, especially if you recgonized some words. Although there are very few seiryuus that I like in each game that I've played, except for Uwasa no Midori-kun series (most of their voices are boyish and in middle range, not varying too much, but enough that it doesn't hurt your poor ears!).

I tried thinking up a good plot for a kiss x kiss seirei gakuen doujin game, but I realized that most visual novels are kind of hard to pull off. Since it circulates itself around mostly plot and character. You really need to know the character in order to get the audience to enjoy the character and the plot/point of the game. And then there's the art, not much can be say there unless you get yourself an artist or that you are an artist.

Others who are also making a game with whatever engine (example: Ren'py, Novelty, Blade, Game Maker, etc), good luck and I wish you lots of success! (note: I'm working on my second game, it's called "A Bad Liar", the first game being put on a pause at the moment.)

Well, in my case, I've been building up backstory and characterisation on the Seirei boys in my head for almost four years now, so even though quite a bit of it is kind of... far removed from the original game (*holds head in hands* oh god what am I doing) I at least have quite a lot to work with ^^;;. Just need to express it in a format that can reach other people. Thought a game might be more interesting for people ♥.

As for what kind of games... well, it's all kind of limited with what we ("we", "anybody who makes games") can put together. As far as a date sim game, I think the actual game is fine enough for that? On a technical level I'm not sure yet how I'm going to broach the fairly simple (compared to other things) task of "text game with branching storylines", let alone ones that might contain variable stats and things like that. Though people do do awesome things with Ren'py and these other engines, to be fair. I know there are a few fighting game engines, too. If I had any idea how to go about working on one of those, the thought of a cracky Seirei one amuses me XD *thinks of the Marimite fighting game*

But yeah, I think the original game has the basic "date sim" MO covered, though of course if it was in english that would be better, haha. I hear some people complain it's kind of simple, but jeeesus compared to things like Tokimemo GS? I prefer 'simple' to 'I have done almost everything right and the guy is in love with me why am I still getting the bad ending', you know?

With the one I'm working on, I have a particular story I want to tell, so I want to try and tell it through a visual novel. Things like art and music... I'm not so good with, but as I think I said before, I'll worry about that once I'm done with the script. Can't do anything without a script to base it all on. If the worst came to the worst it could just be a computer-based choose-your-own-adventure XD;;;

(I have got a little bit obsessed with thoughts of endings and Bad End and things like that, but I love contemplating all the staples of visual novels from the point of view of being the one able to control these things :x)

If it came to voiced... I think we'd have a hard enough time making a game to begin with, let alone find enough people to get involved for voice-acting XD;; and that would balloon the size of a game up, too... I think that's probably beyond the scope of something fan-made ^^;. I mean, even big visual novels like Clannad or Tsukihime and the like weren't voiced to begin with, you know? (Though Tsukihime started life as a doujin game, so there's hope for us all, maybe ♥)

In my case though, I'm basically like... working towards something I want to work on, hoping that maybe in the future other people might be interested in it. If they are, that's great. If they're not, well, whatever, I'll still have worked on something. Maybe that's a bit selfish? Well, whatever. Got to have passion behind something big, at least ♥. As it is, I like yaoi. It seems to me the crossover between "otome game fans" and "yaoi fans" is not huge, but, still. I'll just keep at what I want to try to do, and see if I get anywhere with it ♥.

You've already tried making games before? ♥ How did that go? ♥ I realise it's a bit foolhardy having the amount of ambition I do for this script with a complete lack of Ren'py experience, but;;;;. I'll muddle along I suppose XD;;;;;
Well I haven't officially finished one, but I'm working on a few. I generate too many ideas haha. It's really easy! I did have a few problems though, but the best solution for that is to either check it over in case you might have typed something wrong or rearrange where each part should go. I'm working with a friend on it, but it feels like I'm doing most work still. So I hope my group will become slightly larger, or at least I could collaborate with another.

It would be so nice to get it voiced.. sighs.. but just not enough actors ne? 'll have to put kiss x kiss aside and hurry up with my current projects, sighs. I really need a schedule if I want to get anything done! Pooey! I hope yours will be complete! I look forward to it =D
